ABOUT

Hi, my name is Makena Cioni and I am 17 years old.
A lot of people have asked why I chose this project. I wanted a Gold Award that really meant something to me. I didn't want to choose a random cause just to do the project and get another pretty mark on my college applications. I knew with the amount of work this project entails, I'd have to actually feel passionately about it. And the EACC spoke to me; I saw the pictures of the kids, excited to get a playground for the first time. These kids didn't even know how to use a swing. I realized how privileged I am living in a country where there are countless parks and playgrounds for me to play on when I was a kid.  It hit me how unfair it was that these children didn't have access to things I've taken for granted my whole life. I knew I had to do something about it.
